Local Schools, Organizations Invited to Submit Designs for 2026 “Paint the Plow” Project
Deadline for submissions is Friday, January 30, 2026.
This year’s theme, 'Leesburg is Out of This World,' features a new timeline to better accommodate teachers, students, and Town staff. Three designs will be selected in February 2026, with painting scheduled to take place before the end of the school year.
Selected designs will be painted onto Town of Leesburg snowplow blades, which measure 12’ wide by 3’ high. The artwork will be featured in the 2026 Leesburg Kiwanis Halloween Parade and the Town’s Christmas and Holiday parade, in addition to being visible while plowing Town streets during snow events.
Artwork must be an original design, and students must paint the plow. Staff may help direct the selection of students and designs, but students must implement the project. Up to three (3) designs may be submitted from each school however, only one (1) design per school will be chosen. Submissions are due no later than Friday, January 30, 2026.
Submissions will be reviewed by COPA during its February 2, 2026 meeting. Winning designs will be presented to the Leesburg Town Council later that month.
Following Council approval, winning schools will be notified, and plow blades will be delivered. Each school will be reimbursed up to $125 towards painting supplies. Blades must be painted no later than Friday, June 5, 2025.
Online voting will take place during the month of October. Winners will be announced November 1. The school that receives the most votes will win $500 for their school program. Second place will receive $250, and third place will win $100.
