Leesburg Police Investigating Report of Shot Fired and Assault on Hancock Place NE

Leesburg, VA (September 30, 2025) – Last evening, just before 9 p.m., the Leesburg Police Department responded to the area of the 100 block of Hancock Place NE after receiving reports from people hearing a gunshot.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female with a minor injury to her ear. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later released. Initial information suggested the injury may have been related to a gunshot; investigators are still examining the nature of the injury.

The initial investigation revealed that the incident began at the Hancock Place playground, where a disturbance involving multiple individuals occurred. Witnesses reported hearing at least one gunshot during the altercation.

Officers canvassed the area, conducted searches, and collected evidence at the scene. The Leesburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has assumed the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
