Small Town Charm GraphicLeesburg, VA (September 19, 2025) – The Town of Leesburg is excited to launch a community-driven process to help shape the future of its parks, recreation facilities, programs, and events. As part of this effort, the Town is inviting residents to share their ideas, feedback, and aspirations on the master plan website

The information gathered will guide the development of Leesburg’s 20-Year Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan, funded in the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget. The Town has contracted with Berry Dunn, a national consulting firm, to lead this effort under the theme “Small Town Charm – Big Ideas”.

On the website, residents are encouraged to participate in four different interactive tools designed to capture ideas and spark conversation. An interactive map allows community members to share thoughts and suggestions about specific parks, amenities, facilities, and recreation opportunities while an “Ideas Wall” offers a space where residents can post creative thoughts, feedback, and suggestions related to parks, programs, and events. There are also several surveys to explore:

• How often Town facilities are used
• Participation in programs and activities
• Future recreation needs and priorities
• Barriers that may prevent access to facilities, parks, or programs
• How you would allocate $100 among the parks and recreation categories

In addition, Berry Dunn will be onsite to host discovery sessions with key staff, hold focus groups with stakeholders, and lead community pop-up events. These pop-ups will provide in-person opportunities for residents to complete surveys and speak directly with the consulting team:

• Thursday, September 25 – Ida Lee Recreation Center, 4 to 6 p.m. and Freedom Park, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

• Friday, September 26 – Ida Lee Recreation Center, 10 a.m. to noon

Future engagement opportunities will be announced as the process continues, with the final Master Plan anticipated for completion in May 2026.

“This is a valuable opportunity for our community to have a voice in shaping the recreational opportunities available in Leesburg, both now and in the future,” said Parks and Recreation Director Rich Williams. “We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to visit the project’s website and share what matters most to them.”

The website will remain live through May 2026. Visit https://www.leesburgva.gov/masterplan
