Veterans Park Remains Closed During Construction

Post Date:09/05/2025 12:00 PM

Leesburg, VA (September 5, 2025) – As construction on the Veterans Park project is ongoing, the public is advised to avoid the park property. Veterans Park closure

Despite numerous ‘Trail Closed’ signs posted throughout the park property, the Town’s contractor has observed individuals accessing the active construction site by removing or navigating around fencing. This poses a serious safety risk, as the site is actively under construction with heavy machinery.

As a reminder, public entry into the construction site is prohibited. Please respect posted signage and safety fencing and avoid the park property while construction continues. Construction sites are dangerous areas, with obstacles that are not easily visible like trenches, and exposed utility lines that can cause serious injury. The public can help keep their neighbors safe by reporting suspicious activity to the Leesburg Police Department’s non-emergency line at 703-771-4500. For emergencies, call 9-1-1.

The first phase of park construction, which includes a boat ramp, trails, picnic facilities, and a new two-lane park access road, is expected to be completed by spring 2026. More information about the project and the opportunity to sign up for project updates can be found at www.leesburgva.gov/veteranspark.
