Revolution on Screen: The Patriot (2000) with Ian MacDougall

Join us for a lively discussion series exploring how the American Revolution has been portrayed in film and television. Watch the selected movie or episode beforehand, then join a discussion on historical accuracy, character depictions, and storytelling—led by local historians. This month's selection is the 2000 movie The Patriot, directed by Roland Emmerich, which follows South Carolina farmer Benjamin Martin as he is reluctantly drawn into the Revolutionary War with his son after a brutal British officer shatters their family. Local historian and Executive Director of the Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area Association will lead the discussion. View before the event on DVD available at Loudoun County Public Library or rent for $3.99 on most streaming platforms, including YouTube.
