Open or Close Water and Sewer Account
You may start or stop water and sewer service with the Town of Leesburg by calling 703-771-2701, Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 5pm.
There is a $20 initial service charge, along with a $130 deposit for residential account. Deposits are refunded after three years of good payment record or upon closing the account. We need a minimum of 24 hours notice to start or stop service Monday-Friday and we are closed on weekends and holidays. Call us by 5 pm on a Friday to start or stop service on a Monday.
Billing Schedule
Water and wastewater bills are sent out on a quarterly basis. Since all water and wastewater services are used by the customer in advance of the bill, bills are due and payable when rendered. The original due date will be 30 days from the date the bill was rendered.
Late Payments
Bills are considered delinquent if payment is not received on or before the original due date. If an account remains unpaid after this date, a 10% late fee will be assessed.
Final Notice
Final notices will be mailed after the original due date and will include the late fee. Final notices will state the final due date as well as the service disconnection date. Failure to receive a final notice does not exempt the customer from payment.
Disconnections for Non-Payment
If the bill is not paid in full on or before the final due date, service will be disconnected.
Reconnection of Service
Once a customer has been disconnected for non-payment, the entire past due balance and all fees including a $20 reconnection fee must be paid before service is restored. If the initial $130 deposit has already been refunded, reconnection of service will require an additional $130 deposit which will be refunded again after three years of good payment record or upon closing the account. If payment is made before 3 p.m. on the disconnect day, we will make every attempt to reconnect services on that day. Please note that it may take up to one full business day to restore service.
