The Utilities Department provides citizens with high quality water and sanitary
sewer service. Leesburg provides both water and sanitary sewer treatment, distribution
and collection for its citizens.
The Water Supply Division is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Leesburg's water production, water pumping stations and storage facilities. The division's goal is to produce aesthetically pleasing and chemically pure water that meets water quality standards established by the Safe Drinking Water Act in sufficient quantity to meet the citizens' needs and to ensure an adequate supply for fire protection. The Kenneth B. Rollins Water Treatment Plant treats up to 10 million gallons per day of water and is located just east of town on Edwards Ferry Road along the Potomac River. Call (703) 771-2750 for a copy of the town's most recent water quality report.
The Water Pollution Control Division is responsible for the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater generated within the Leesburg service area and the subsequent stabilization and disposal of the solid wastes produced to ensure the protection of public health and the environment. The town's Water Pollution Control Facility treats sewage at a rate of 4.85 million gallons per day and is located off Route 7 on the eastern edge of town.
Tours of the water treatment plant and water pollution control facility are
available for citizens, school and community groups by appointment. For details,
