Despite breezy conditions and cooler temperatures, Leesburg’s 20th Annual Flower and Garden Festival was rock-solid with tremendous crowds and record numbers of participants. On April 17 and 18, 2010, 12 landscapers, 133 retail vendors, 12 food vendors, 6 sponsors, and 10 non-profit vendors were on display in the streets of historic Downtown Leesburg. Featuring landscape designs, gardening supplies, outdoor living items, plants, flowers, herbs, garden art and much more, this two-day event saw more than 36,000 people and solidified the 20th year as the largest festival in event history.

One of the highlights of this year’s event was the judged landscape competition where 12 area landscapers showcased their best work. Juried by three local judges with backgrounds in horticulture and landscape design, this year’s contest saw impressive displays and stiff competition. “It was tight competition. The competitors and judges both said that the displays this year really raised the bar and made the decision for 1st place that much tougher,” said Bill Ference, Assistant Director of Parks with the Leesburg Parks an Recreation Department. This year’s winners are:

2nd Place: Walker and Clarke, Waterford VA
3rd Place: Wildwood Landscapes, Purcellville, VA

2011 VENDOR INFORMATION
The Flower and Garden Festival is Leesburg’s unofficial start to the spring season, so be sure to mark you calendar for April 16 and 17, 2011 and join the Town of Leesburg for the 21st annual festival. Applications will be available online by November 1, 2010 and will be due January 10, 2011.
