UPDATE – SUSPECT IN SHOOTING INCIDENT IN CUSTODY

November 7, 2012 – At 4:05 PM on 11-7-2012, Jonathan Cowden turned himself in to detectives of the Leesburg Police Department. Cowden is also being charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Cowden will be taken before the Loudoun County Magistrate for a bond hearing. This is still an active criminal investigation. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Leesburg Police Department as soon as possible.

Leesburg Police Department Currently Investigating Incident Involving Shots Fired At a Tow Truck Driver

November 7, 2012 – Late Tuesday afternoon, November 6th, 2012, a search warrant was executed by the Leesburg Police Department at 66-126 Plaza Street NE in conjunction with the earlier reported incident of a shooting that was directed towards a tow truck operator.

As a result of the search warrant at the Plaza Street location a warrant has been obtained charging Jonathan Alexander Cowden, a 25 year old Leesburg man, for a Class 1 Misdemeanor – Removing a Serial Number from a Firearm. Cowden remains at large at this time.

During the search of the residence Leesburg Police Detectives also located a weapon as well as a ballistic vest and other items that are believed to be stolen from FBI Agents issued vehicle in Fairfax County, Virginia in February, 2011.

In addition, military type ballistic body armor as well as military tracer rounds were also seized from the residence as well as additional weapons.

The case remains under investigation with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as the Fairfax County Police Department.
