Effective Monday, February 8, 2010, Town Offices will be closed. Street Division crews continue to work 24-hours a day clearning roadways and treating roads. Due to the volume of snow, crews are not able to completely clear all lanes at this time.
Crews are focusing on making one passable lane on each street, then returning to continue the clearing process. The Town is not able to clear private roadways or shopping center lots. For State maintained roadways, please contact the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). They have posted snow removal information and contact nunbers on their website .
Please note - the equipment in use by the Town for clearning roadways is not able to manuever tightly around cars - cars parked on roadways cannot be cleared by crews. Crews are working to reach areas as quickly as possible - all available personnel are involved in this process. As such, brush collection operations are suspended until further notice. If you have an urgent situation, you may contact the voicemail box for the Street Division at 703-737-7073. Staff may not be able to respond to your call immediately, but will work as quickly as possible to provide assistance.
Trash collection for business and residents in the SE/SW is occuring on a limited basis. Due to current conditions, crews may not be able to reach all areas - they will collect trash as soon as roads are accessible. We anticipate limited collection for businesses and residents in the NE/NW quadrants on Tuesday, February 9th, as road conditions allow. |
