Every year, the Town Council prepares a legislative agenda that is presented to the Leesburg/Loudoun members of the Virginia General Assembly. This agenda outlines issues of interest or concern to the Town of Leesburg on which the Town Council requests action from Virginia General Assembly during its annual session. In addition, the Town Council also prepares a Position Statement which outlines the Town's position on issues that are likely to come before the General Assembly. Typically, the Town's legislative agenda is finalized in October or November of each year, with the General Assembly session convening in January.
