Leesburg Police Join Local Neighborhoods in Celebrating 34th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1, 2017
Leesburg, VA (July 20, 2017) – National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes partnerships to make our communities safer. The Leesburg Police Department will celebrate National Night Out with two Leesburg neighborhoods on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All Leesburg residents are encouraged to spend the evening outside and get to know their neighbors.
“This event is a powerful way for us to continue in our mission of strengthening community relations, partnerships and trust. Together we can advance towards keeping this community a great place to live, work and raise a family. We look forward to working with our community and achieving another successful year.” said Leesburg Police Chief Gregory Brown.
The main site for this year’s National Night Out in Leesburg will be the Loudoun Hills community on Meadows Lane NE. Hosted by the Loudoun Hill Homeowners Association, the evening’s activities will include a moon bounce, a variety of refreshments and door prizes provided by event sponsors. The Leesburg Police Department will have the Mobile Command Center, police cars and police motorcycles on display. Children are invited to meet Leesburg K-9 Officer Sally and McGruff the Crime Dog who will be handing out Junior Officer Badges and to ride the Leesburg Police Barrel Train. The Leesburg Parks & Recreation Department will be on hand with an inflatable obstacle course and a Start Smart Tennis program, assisted by volunteers from the Town’s R.O.C.K. (Recreation Outreach to Community Kids) program.
In addition, Loudoun Hunger Relief will be distributing non-perishable food and information about their programs.
“We are thrilled to get into the community we serve alongside our law enforcement and other partners,” Jennifer Montgomery, Executive Director of Loudoun Hunger Relief, says. “It’s a great opportunity to spread the word about the help we offer to families and to learn about what others do. On top of that, we get to have a fun, safe evening out!”
A satellite location will run simultaneously at the Sycamore Hill community, hosted by the Sycamore Hills Homeowners Association, with a moon bounce and refreshments. CVR Martial Arts and the School of Rock will be on hand with demonstrations and program information.
As the Leesburg Police Department’s premier community relations event, National Night Out serves to (1) reinforce crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support and participation for local anti-crime efforts; and (3) foster and strengthen neighborhood collaboration and police-community relations.
Sponsors for Leesburg’s National Night Out include Ashburn Rentals, Atomic Trampoline, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chick-fil-a, Costco, CVR Martial Arts, Kohls, Leesburg Animal Park, Manhattan Pizza, School of Rock, Subway, Target and Wegmans. National Night Out is a program of the National Association of Town Watch (www.natw.org), sponsored nationally by ADT Security.
